- Sustainability Strategy
Powers energy-growth Backing long-term capital deployment
Boman’s renewable energy strategy is built on a simple conviction: the most important infrastructure gap in Australia right now is not generation — it is storage. As coal exits and renewables scale, the grid needs dispatchable, distributed battery assets to support stability. We seek to develop those assets at appropriate layers of the network, at the right moment in the transition.
We identify structural opportunities supported by long-term industry trends and real-world impact at suitable entry point. Clean energy infrastructure reflects this: policy-supported, market-demand, and growing at pace.
- Our Long-term goals
Establish Boman as a recognised developer and investment manager in the distributed BESS segment — building an institutional-grade capability that grows across fund phases as the market expands toward 2030 and beyond.
The Fund is a proposed specialised investment vehicle targeting the development phase of a geographically diversified portfolio of 25-35 distributed-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM).
- Our Investment Strategy
Driven by the accelerating energy transition in Australia, the Fund targets the growing demand for distributed battery energy storage systems (BESS) to support grid stability and renewable integration.
By focusing on the high-value-add development stage, the Fund seeks to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns for investors through the identification, permitting, and approval of projects, ultimately creating a portfolio of “shovel-ready” Distribution BESS assets.

- Why Focus on Mid-Scale Storage (≤5MW)
This segment may present a compelling risk-adjusted opportunity within the NEM:
Regulatory Tailwinds
Sub-5MW projects may benefit from a streamlined approvals pathway and may eligible for AEMO registration fee exemptions, which can help reduce upfront costs and shortening delivery timelines.
The development pipeline for mid-scale distribution assets remains relatively constrained, against a backdrop of strong sponsor, investor and secondary market interest.econdary market demand.
Network-Driven Demand
Large developers often prioritise 100MW+ utility-scale projects, leaving potential opportunities in the mid-scale segment with more attractive entry dynamics and reduced competitive intensity.
