INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF ENERGY TRANSITION

Since inception, the Fund has been dedicated to developing a geographically diversified portfolio of distributed-scale BESS projects across Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM), targeting 25–35 assets to support grid stability and renewable integration.

By focusing on early-stage greenfield development, securing planning and grid connection approvals, and advancing projects to shovel-ready status, the Fund aims to create a high-quality pipeline of exit-ready assets and deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns through disciplined divestment strategies.

Powering renewable energy growth to develop and realize asset value

Phase 1: Boman BESS Development Fund

Driven by the accelerating energy transition in Australia, the Fund targets the growing demand for distributed battery energy storage systems (BESS) to support grid stability and renewable integration.

The Fund focuses on developing a diversified portfolio of 25–35 distributed BESS projects across the NEM, advancing assets from greenfield stage to shovel-ready status through disciplined execution and permitting.

By systematically creating de-risked, exit-ready assets, the Fund aims to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns through strategic divestment to long-term asset owners.

This segment offers a compelling risk-adjusted opportunity within the NEM:

Regulatory Tailwinds

Sub-5MW projects benefit from a streamlined approvals pathway and are eligible for AEMO registration fee exemptions, materially reducing upfront costs and shortening delivery timelines.
Supply-Demand Imbalance
The development pipeline for mid-scale distribution assets remains constrained, against a backdrop of strong sponsor, investor and secondary market demand.

Network-Driven Demand

While utility-scale storage primarily supports transmission constraints, distribution-connected assets are increasingly required by DNSPs to address localised network congestion and capacity constraints.
Underserved Segment
Large developers continue to prioritise 100MW+ utility-scale projects, leaving a structural gap in the mid-scale segment with more attractive entry dynamics and reduced competitive intensity.
